3rd Winner in the Mechatronics Field for the 2019 National Selection of ASEAN SKILL COMPETITION (ASC)

Two students from Mechtatronics Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta declares as 3rd Winner of the  2019 National Selection of Asean Skills. ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC) or ASEAN World Skills is a routine activity in ASEAN which is held every 2 years. This event is held by the Ministers of Manpower to ehance training cooperation, to promote vocational education and training and to improve the quality of young workers in the ASEAN region. ASC consists of 3 stages, namely: (1) Regional Selection (SELEKDA) (2) National Selection (SELEKNAS) and (3) ASEAN World Skills.

The National Selection (Seleknas) Asean Skills Competition 2019 was held on 20-23 August 2019 at the BBPLK (Center for Work Training Development). The fields of the competition contain Mechatronics, Electrical Installation, Industrial Control, Industrial Automation, Welding, Restaurant Service, Cooking, Cabinet making, Joinery, Bricklaying, IT software solutions and business, IT network system administration, Reffrigation, web design, Mechanical engineering design CAD, Beauty therapy, Hair dressing, Web design, Fashion technology, Electronics, Mobile robotics and CNC maintenance.

In the field of Mechatronics,The team from the Special Region of Yogyakarta was represented by UNY Students from the Faculty of Engineering consisting of two students namely Ryan Julianto (Mechatronics Engineering Education 2018) and Rizki Bagus Syahdewa (Mechatronics Engineering Education 2018). The participants were required to dismantle, install and program an MPS (Modular product system) Station based on the predetermined questions. The students used two stations, namely distributing and pick and place combining into one. Ryan Julianto explains that "We make the strategy to operate, and we work hard in the process of each work by paying attention to it in terms of dismantling, installation and programming", he said.
